Bill: Rationalizing Defense Industry Policy
Details
Submitted by[?]: AM Radical Libertarian Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2251
Description[?]:
By having the State run all defense industries, we combine the worst features of a monopoly with those of the bureaucracy; inneffeciency, lack of innovation, and restrictive work rules. We do not feel that we wish our national defense to be constrained by these conditions. We have, upon reflection, decided that a mix of private and public ownership may be best for our nation in these times of transition. |

Message | To: AM Radical Liberatarian Party From: The Office of The Supreme Grand Lord Oreus Mallok VI, Righteous Supreme Order of the Holy Star Once again, we commend the AMRLP for their intent, but in all honesty, we are shocked by the cavalier attitude being taken. Nothing is more urgent a matter in these End Times than the defence of that which we hold dear, and to leave the backbone of our supply chain in the hands of potentially foreign private industry is akin to opening the door to wolves. Whilst our industry must remain in the hands of the poeple and their elected representatives, we can conced that there may be a minority who do not, for reasons we cannot fathom, wish to benefit from our excellent Trade Unions. On this single point I can see compromise, but I suspect you will be rigid on the first two, so I cannot see us supporting this Bill. Yours, The Very Righteous Stephen D'Lekk, on behalf of Supreme Grand Lord Oreus Mallok VI |

Message | To: The Office of The Supreme Grand Lord Oreus Mallok VI, Righteous Supreme Order of the Holy Star From: AM Radical Libertarian Party To respond to your first point, under cyurrent law foreign investors are not allowed to own national industries, so there would be no chance of our defense being in the hands of foreigners. However, in the spirit of compromise, we would be willing to modify articles 1 and 2 to allow state run and private industries, if that would bring you on board this piece of legislation. There is something to be said for covering all possibilities. By modifying this bill, we would be allowing all viewpoints their chance to prove their validity, and potentially have the best of both worlds. Let us know if this would garner your support. Message | To: Bret Maverick, AM Radical Libertarian Party From: The Office of The Supreme Grand Lord Oreus Mallok VI, Righteous Supreme Order of the Holy Star On balance, whilst we still have concerns about this Bill, some private industry competition could be beneficial. Regarding point 2, we feel that there are some industries that should remain owned and maintained by the State, but again, perhaps a small degree of private enterprise would be acceptable. We would back this Bill on a trial basis, although if circumstances change, we would strongly consider legislation to reverse it. With thanks, The Very Righteous Stephen D'Lekk, on behalf of Supreme Grand Lord Oreus Mallok VI |

Message | It should also be borne in mind that the machinery of the Cause has been so fashioned, that whatever is deemed necessary to incorporate into it in order to keep it in the forefront of all progressive movements, can, according to the provisions made by Atreides Anakrousis, be safely embodied therein. Safely embodied, then. Inshallah. |
