Bill: Political Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Coalition

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2251

Description[?]:

In order to pull back the arm of government in the lives of everyday people and to protect the people from the government. I propose a series of three reforms. The first would prevent Eminent Domain abuse of the government, but also give the government a way to appeal if the land owner himself is acting in a divisive manner. The second would remove the government from the Identification Card arena which is a slippery slope to an authoritarian state. The third is a common sense amendment. The government shouldn't care what type of software is designed and by who. Why would they need to "allow" anything? It should always be "allowed." The current law is a needless law.

MessageArticle 1 already prevents government abuse, as the neutral body is not necessarily government appointed, and the people can appeal in the current proviso.
Article 2 leading to an "authoritarian state"? They're voluntary! We should provide a legally-approved recognited ID system for those who wish to participate to prove their eligibility for certain goods, entitlements and services. It's not as if we're recording retinal patterns on them and barcoding the citizens themselves.
Article 3 is pointless. The two net effects are the same.

The Bastards feel the arguments are slightly misled here - erring on the side of caution, but we ask the respectable minister to remove the tinfoil hat from his head, and recommend roasting a chicken in it instead. Pheasants, guinea foul, pouissain, turkey or a meat joint if preferred, just make sure the juices are clear.

MessageI'm glad that the Cynical Bastardry Party trusts the government in matters dealing with real life people, but the Liberal Coalition does not trust the government in these issues.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
