Message | Then define torture. By your standards, it seems we can't even tickle these people. Or annoy the crap out of them. "Look, just tell us where the plane is going to hit." "Or else?" "Or we'll...dammit..." "Thought so. Thanks SDP, CoL, and SEP! Now we can kill the Leading Minister!" |

Date | 01:18:36, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Social Democratic Party of Darnussia | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | Good grieve, fascists and totalitirians have no sense at all. how come any nations can cope without torture, I am so sad that backwards people are making this nation a backwards place. We can strike deals, apply other types of pressure over torture. Torture is inhumane, it is wrong and it makes whoever votes for it no better then the people they want to use it on, makes the parties who vote for it terrorists themselves. |
Date | 03:23:00, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Social Democratic Party | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | Negotiate with terrorists? Good God, that's the type of policy that just throws away our very values as a country. |
Date | 03:36:28, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Progressive Democratic Alliance | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | You speak of people who have made a mistake or been misled as if they were lower than dirt. If you really must know of other ways there are of interrogation, one for example is psychological interrogation or threats. Another could be threatening torture but not actually doing torture. Psychological interrogation targets a weak spot in the criminal's psyche/mind and manipulates it. Lying is also very effective and when coupled with the psychological element can work well. Intimidation can also be used. For all the types, have a look at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interrogation Alot can also be revealed through a lie detector or examining the movements and body language of the person being interrogated. Now really, did I need to go through all that detail for you to understand that smashing somebody over the head with a concrete slab, stabbing them in whatever part of their body or any other physical abuse is inhumane and most of the time not as effective as other interrogation techniques? |
Date | 05:50:12, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Social Democratic Party | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | You really assume the worst out of everything, don't you? "Suspects can only be tortured under grave emergencies where the information is vital." Think about that and tell me, do you really want to wait around with a lie detector and wait for a TERRORIST (NOT a common criminal) to decide to tell you the truth about where they will attack? How many do you think will be dead by the time they break through to him? 100? 200? 3000? 10000? How many have to die before you come to realize this? |
Date | 13:09:41, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Social Libertarian party | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | If it were truly a grave emergency, why would you care what the law says? "THERE'S GUYS CHASING AFTER US WITH GUNS! GO!" "But the light's red." |
Date | 13:27:39, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Libertarian party of Darnussia | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | that is still psychological torture SDP. so we need this law... |
Date | 13:34:56, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Progressive Democratic Alliance | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | Well there is also bargaining, threats, lying, or just simply reading body language and stress patterns to tell when the person is lying. How do you think every single western country conducts interrogations? |
Date | 13:43:52, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Progressive Democratic Alliance | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | The two more authoritarian-inclined parties hold WAAAAY too many seats. |
Date | 18:40:20, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Libertarian party of Darnussia | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | thats beceause we are WAAAAY more popular then you guys and therefore WAAAAAAAAAY less authoritarian then you think. |
Date | 21:39:10, June 24, 2005 CET | From | Social Democratic Party | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | I'm quite liberal compared to everyone else in my country. In any case, WHY are you bargaining with people who want to kill you in the first place? And WHY do you want to know whether or not they're lying if your not even looking for the truth? |
Date | 03:39:35, June 25, 2005 CET | From | Progressive Democratic Alliance | To | Debating the Bill for the Ethical Treatment of Humans |
Message | Relax, your party and the Communist Party has enough votes to completely descimate 7 parties and he votes the same way on these bills. |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
