Bill: Paramilitary Resolution
Details
Submitted by[?]: Gnazenal Phr'unt
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2258
Description[?]:
It has come to our attention that one party within Lodamun operates an armed paramilitary organisation. Recognizing that bullets and ballots do not go together, the National Front asks the Senate to back a resolution calling for the Black Peoples Party to disband the 'Peoples Army'. There is nothing wrong with citizens owning firearms or forming gun clubs, but for a party to openly admit it has a paramilitary wing is undesirable and must be stopped.
Resolution altered to the effect that it will be illegal for political parties to have militant wings organised as private armies. |

From | Conservative People's Party | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | We oppose this. There is no problem in having a military wing. We ourselves have our little scout's club, the King's Guard, who have been with us for the entire time we have existed |

From | Gnazenal Phr'unt | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | CPP, there is a massive difference between something such as the scouts, and an organisation that is armed and trained to fight. Hoever if you consider the Kings Guard to be a paramilitary organisation, then they too would be added to the resolution. |

From | Almighty Lodamunian Front (ALF) | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | I also support this resolution. The government should have a monopoly on the use of force. Allow the 'People's Army" to exist means there are alternative sources of power within the realm, which is not acceptable. |

From | Black People's Party | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | I was going to take that off anyway... you don't need this bill, I haven't had time to really change things around. |

From | Gnazenal Phr'unt | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | But currently there is nothing against you having an army in the future, so the resolution is still needed. |

From | Conservative People's Party | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | We still think politics and militias and a nice combination.. and if the King's Guard is affected by this law, we will simply cut the organisational tie we have with them and they can continue alone though in line with the party |
Date | 03:19:44, July 23, 2006 CET |
From | Black People's Party | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | First of all the People's Army(PA) wasn't owned by the BPP, we were linked to the PA and funded it. If we had a militia it would be called something else for only BPP members, unlike the PA which was an organization which had just normal people in it. the BPP does agree that no party should own a paramilitary wing but this bill is only against the BPP and that's not fair when we can't form things but everyone else can...so even if this law is passed the PA will still exist just as it has existed for a long time because we didn't own it. |

From | Gnazenal Phr'unt | To | Debating the Paramilitary Resolution | Message | The BPP funded them, no other party did so, the BPP owned them. The BPP stopped funding them once this Resolution was introduced. This resolution disbands them, this resolution has passed, so they are disbanded. |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
