Bill: Seat Sensibility Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Catholic Workers Union
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2257
Description[?]:
Although we recognize the CUP's effort to change the number of seats to that of the number of seats in the British Parliament, we think that 646 is a very difficult number to work with for purposes of basic arithmetic. Based on a simple rule that the number of seats should be that number which makes mental arithmetic as simple as possible, we believe that 601 is the perfect number of seats for any legislature. This is for three reasons: 1. In order to pass all resolutions, a majority of seats is needed. This can easily be determined to be 301. 2. In order to pass all constitutional amendments, a two-thirds majority is needed. This can easily be determined to be 401. 3. The additional seat prevents any nasty ties which can occasionally prevent Parliament from undertaking any useful activity. We hope that all parties will come to their senses and make a mathematically ideal number like 601 the size of next term's Parliament. |

Message | This does make more sense than 646. Whuke the novelty of 646 is interesting, 601 is a much better number for Telamon. |
