Bill: Nudity Restriction Act 2260

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2262

Description[?]:

The SDLP fully supports the rights of Hobrazians to be naked on their own property, and on that of others who consent to it, but we must also respect the rights of many Hobrazians who may feel uncomfortable with the nudity of others in any public space. We therefore propose that public nudity be restricted to designated nudist beaches and colonies, the creation of which will be treated as any other request for use of public space and not unfairly hindered in any way.

We realise this issue was raised five years ago by the HPP but, as should be evident, we are not suggesting that this is a measure aimed to stop the paedophiles and perverts on our streets. We are merely attempting to allow those who do not wish to be exposed to public nudity to keep their rights, whilst also ensuring that people of the right to public nudity on private property or in designated public spaces.

NB: The wording of the bill takes precedence over the proposal values. Public colonies and beaches can exist alongside private ones.

MessageTo say that this legislation would protect people's rights who don't want to view nudity would equally require a bill designating areas were people could wear funny hats because they might offend someone. And a bill for those who drive pink cars, because granny doesn't care for pink cars, to only be able to drive on certain roads. This is paposterious!

MessagePink hats and cars don't make people feel uncomfortable. We have to acknowledge that for a great many people in this country, nudity is something that they do not want to say. We are not saying that nudity equals sex, or that it somehow equals perversion, merely that those who do not share the desire to be naked in public should not have the nudity of others forced upon them.

MessageWe support the SDLP on this bill. Statistically speaking, most citizens do not want to see an old, overweight nudist walking down their block at 6 am.

MessageI don't know about you, but pink hats, green tube tops, and madagascar shoes freak some of our party leaders out big time, but we're not pushing for regulation of those. Why is it that 'feeling uncomfortable' is some how a result of people's rights being infringed in your opinions? And I'd like to see these statistics m'self, as we've had free skin policies for decades now. Hopefully the skitish would of gotten used to it by now.
