Bill: Pharmaceuticals (Sedatives) Bill 2261
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Democratic Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2263
Description[?]:
"It is clear from the medical literature and the public press that certain types of pain, some symptoms of epilepsy, and so forth, are difficult to treat, even with the miracles of modern medicine. Yet a perfectly natural, ancient and effective remedy goes unused by doctors because it is unacceptable to politicians. This "miracle" is nothing more than marijuana. "Regardless of the negative effects it has on the short-term acuity of its recreational users, we believe there are no grounds to support its continued denial to sufferers of such pain, and more importantly in the long run, the associated obstacles to the development of synthetic medicines which isolate the pain-relieving effects. If the necessary conditions and safeguards are properly enforced, and we have confidence that our nation's fine law enforcement service and medical profession can enforce them, we believe that the legalisation of marijuana for medical purposes across the country can only have positive effects." |

Message | I think this is simple enough to send straight to third reading. There's not a lot of wriggle-room on a one-proposal Bill. |
