Bill: Justice Amendment Bill [2262]
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party of Gishoto
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2264
Description[?]:
The Justice Amendment Bill of 2262 proposes: 1) The application of the death penalty in only extreme cases. The Liberal Party hold that the death penalty is an appalling recourse for a modern society and that it does nothing to lower crime rates. However, in the interests of consensual progress, the party proposes this article. 2) The downgrading of police firearms (except for specially trained forces). Violence begets violence. Heavy duty firearms are unnecessary for day-to-day police work. It is the belief of the Liberal Party that a police force with military grade weapons creates tension, not the calm that, ultimately, visible police presence hopes to achieve. |

Message | The IRP sympathizes with this bill, and we realize you're trying to bring slow and progressive change to Gishoto. Unfortunately Communism is not one of the types of government where slow change works. If we're going to undo Communism we have to do it all at once, and right now we see no reason to do that. Communism seems to be working. |

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too. |
