MessageWe propose a modest increase in the size of the Assembly, to take into account the population growth in Jakania.

At the moment, an Assembly member represents about 360,000 people. This proposal would reduce that figure to about 299,000. We propose a small increase so as to not swamp the Assembly.

We also propose that the number of Assembly members be an odd number, so as to reduce the risk of tie votes. In the current Assembly, the JUP holds 120 seats while the conservative bloc holds 130. Needless to say, a handful of votes the other way in the last election could have led to total deadlock.
