MessageThis is basic freedom of religion -- why should where someone is employed (in a school or otherwise) prevent them from organizing private, voluntary worship services? Furthermore, currently only religious schools are regulated -- other private schools are self-regulated. Isn't this discrimination?

MessageActually, we do not. Sorry. We feel that some regulation may be necessary, since students do not always have the choice of whether to attend a religious school. We cannot allow students to be abused in school under the guise of "religious freedom."

MessageI am holding off a vote on this bill until the vote has concluded in the Standards of Education Act. If that bill passes, as now seems likely, it may be edited somewhat.

MessageAs the intent of Article 1 was to make religious schools subject to the same freedom from regulation as nonreligious ones, and the nonreligious ones have since been regulated, we have removed Article 1 from the bill.
