Message | Why? |
Date | 11:06:43, June 28, 2005 CET | From | Communist Party | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | Because the gambling industry preys on the desparation and addictions of the poor. |
Date | 11:29:40, June 28, 2005 CET | From | Kellarly Party | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | I suggest we keep it legal, but get it registered and make a prerequisite of having a casino to give a certain amount of their profit every year to gambling addiction centres etc. Therefore I can still play a friendly game of poker with my friends and not get arrested for it. |
Date | 11:44:27, June 28, 2005 CET | From | Federal Technocrats | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | I would additionally propose that gambling is restricted to dedicated gambling centres such as casinos, so no more poker machines in pubs and bars, praying on opportunists. Games amongst clientelle is allowed everywhere, but not on an institutionalised basis. |

Message | However, can you control online gambling? |
Date | 14:27:48, June 28, 2005 CET | From | Kellarly Party | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | Well online you have to have a credit card so only one credit card per person can be admitted and only a set amount could be taken from that card to prevent addiction. |
Date | 17:26:56, June 28, 2005 CET | From | Kellarly Party | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | With our change in leadership we give this vote our backing. |
Date | 19:41:25, June 28, 2005 CET | From | Communist Party | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | If we get the Internal Affairs ministry, when the current cabinet proposal goes through, we would encourage police to ignore or overlook fair private games ... this is aimed at gambling machines, casinos that take house cuts, etc. |
Date | 20:13:38, June 28, 2005 CET | From | Ruthlessly Random Party | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | In other words bent coppers. No. This would be a logistical nightmare. I'm all for ensuring access to helplines etc are readily available, but banning everything from the Gee-Gees to fruit machines, pub machines all the way up to casinoes would cause uproar and be useless to try to pass. Especially with the private gaming bending. |
Date | 04:27:33, June 29, 2005 CET | From | Federal Technocrats | To | Debating the Gambling ban |
Message | Under new administration, we understand that most would be better off working rather than pouring money into private corporations. For. |
