Details

Submitted by[?]: Likaton Coalition of the Willing

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2287

Description[?]:

In order to give Merians an opportunity for a greater say in their own governance, and to re-affirm Meria as an integral part of our nation, we propose the following:

IF at any time the Merian Seperatist Party gains greater than 50% of the popular vote within Meria

OR parties having declared prior to an election that they support Merian devolution gain a total of greater than 50% of the popular Merian vote in that election

AND in either case, that party/those parties can claim support from at least 15% of the remaining electorate

THEN the following be enacted

FIRSTLY, that the chairperson of the party with widest support within Meria be allowed to use the honorific 'First Minister of Meria'

SECONDLY, that 'The Free Axis Mundi Republic of Central Likatonia' be renamed 'The United AM Republic of Likatonia and Meria

and THIRDLY that the First Minister of Meria commits to preserving the unity between Meria and the remainder of Likatonia, and disavows any suggestion of secession at the commencement of each new term of office

MessageThe BFoDT Party submits this legislation to the debating floor. We would like to see it gain cross-party support, and as such suggest that it be kept at debate until after the election in 2285, when it can be moved to vote.

We would welcome all views, and consider this not a party issue, but a national one.

(OOC I have added the motto change to ensure that it needs 2/3 vote to pass as a Constitutional amendment)

Message"This is an exellent proposal. We fully support the idea of a First Minister of Meria and changing the national name, if the situation arises. This has the full backing of the Meria Separatist Alliance."

ooc - this is a great idea, i had been wondering how i could work a merian split should i gain enough support and this looks like a perfect solution.

MessageThe BFoDT Party is a little confused by the silence of the majority of the other parties. Should we assume that this vote would be supported? If not, please join the debate now, so that we can look to resolve the separatist agenda that threatens to tear our nation asunder.
