Details

Submitted by[?]: Telamon Royalist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2287

Description[?]:

This is in connection with the Emergency Tax Relief Bill above. That is a resolution to declare support of the idea. This is the actual bill to change the laws. ((Basically, I thought I'd added the proposal to that bill, but the game didn't regester it. Or I forgot. It is 4 in the morning, after all...))

Message((Since there is no way to adjust taxes over a portion of the population, as the bill suggests, the closest method I could find to simulate that would be by a small decrease in the GST.))

MessageYou can adjust taxes over different brackets, but you have to hold the Ministry of Finance.

As for this proposal, we will support, since the tax on essential goods is regressive and unjust.

MessageAs per established principle the Conservative Party will oppose this measure in protest of the honourable gentleman's measure in light of the fact that the honourable gentleman does not hold office as minister of finance. The IADP can remember the last time this came up.

MessageThe sales tax is open to manipulation by any MP. It's in the general proposal list, not under cabinet actions thingy.

MessageOK, fine, Mr. I-don't-care-if-I'm-the-minister-of-finance, my question is, from where is the money going to come?

MessageRaising the luxury tax. We're dealing with a large influx of unemployed into our nation with the collapse of one of our larger corporations, and we need income now more than ever. We agree with that. But we also need that income to come from those who can afford to supply it, not from those who are already reeling from this major blow.

MessageShall we conduct this to voting? The tax issue is important at this point.

MessageAs do we, ultimately. Right now, unfortunately, economic realities don't allow for the disbandment of such a tax, not without sending our government into a budget shortfall, which we won't do, but eventually we do intend to propose eliminating this tax entirely.
