Bill: Curriculum Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progressive Democratic Alliance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2076

Description[?]:

1) The following courses will be mandatory for all students up to the age of 13:

- History
- Language Studies (national language and the choice of a 2nd and 3rd language)
- Mathematics
- Sciences
- Technology
- Geography
- The Arts (Music, Visual, Dramatic, etc.)
- Sociology (will teach children greater understanding of the world around them in the early years)
- Sexual Education (from 8 years of age and up)
- Physical Education and Healthy Living

2) From the Age of 14, a student may choose which courses they wish to learn so that they are better prepared for the career they wish to pursue. Only Geography, Science, Language Studies, Math, History and Sexual Education will remain mandatory though the courses may be customised and taken for only a specific time.

3) All other courses are optional but a designated number of them must be taken.

4) Teachers will receive extensive training and all teachers will ensure they can provide an enjoyable learning experience to students in the best possible way.

5) The Curriculum shall also encourage students to be unique and develop their own distinct identity which will help them stand out in the crowd. In this way, our education system also instills tolerance towards other cultures, genders, ethnicities and lifestyles from an early age.

MessageWell, it is. Those are just formal names for the courses. Sociology and SexEd in the early years just teaches children tolerance, respect and individuality through fun activities to help them explore and better understand the world around them.

Message11 years old is not really early. It is necessary to introduce this subject matter at an early age to avoid misunderstanding, immaturity and mistakes concerning the subject later on. It worked for me. Anyway, could you place your proposals in point form or hyphenated outline please? It is slightly compressed and hard to understand in the format you posted it in. Thank you.

MessageWhy is it so bad to let children decide on what to take? I took phycology and philosophy when I was 14 and I found out I like socail studys, I' took other courses that I didn't care for also but I learned that I didn't want pursue those kind of courses.
