Bill: Telephone Services Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Spiritualists' National Union

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2289

Description[?]:

Too many telephone companies are abusing their monopoly powers by grossly inflating their prices, and at the same time expecting the government to cough up with subsidies. Both the tax-payer and the telephone user are being ripped off. We propose capping prices at reasonable levels instead, and withdrawing the subsidy.

Message"Too many telephone companies are abusing their monopoly..." This is a contradiction: if there are many telephone companies they can't all have a monopoly! Competetion will drive down prices, not "big brother" over regulation of private industry.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.

Random quote: Henceforth, the current system of first and second class stamps, where the rich can pay to have their mail delivered faster than the poor, shall be BANNED. There shall be only one class of mail delivery, and ALL mail shall travel at the SAME speed for EVERYBODY. There can be no class discrimination in the People's Post Office! There must be the SAME class of mail service FOR ALL! ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party
