Bill: Repairing the Name of the Lord
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Calvinist Unionist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2288
Description[?]:
It has come to our attention that many of the parties in our nation who claim to be acting in the name of the Lord have hijacked his holy name to propagate their racist and descriminatory views. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, died for all of humanity, not just a few radicals. While it is only through Him that one can achieve salvation, and only the elect shall be saved, that is no reason to damn the rest of humanity. There are two ways to Christ; being forced to believe, and choosing to believe. We believe it the purpose of our Holy Luthori Empire to show that, by being good Christians who allow all to live their lives as they so wish, we shall show the unbelievers the error of their ways by showing them our kindness and greatness. |

Message | Of course you will not pass it, but why? I do not make these bills simply because "Well, theres no way this is going to pass, so I'm just going to throw it out there anyways!" I make them so that I can judge the willingness of the other parties to commit to the democratic process. |

Message | We believe this Bill represents a big step forwards, although it does not go as far as we would like. Article 1: This is thoroughly sensible. Article 2: We would like to see greater efforts made to prevent discrimination, which is unfortunately endemic in Luthori society. Article 3: We are against having an established church. Article 4: We believe some regulations are necessary in order to make sure children receive a good education and are brought up to live in a tolerant and pluralistic society, instead of being brainwashed to hate anyone who disagrees with their religious views. Article 5: This is a positive move, but we would like to go further. |

Message | We would like to go forward on most of their articles as well. However, we were attempting to comprimise. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
