Bill: Endangered Animal Protection Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Centrist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2074
Description[?]:
Recognizing that certain animals are being hunted to near-extinction thanks to market demand for products created from them, the LFP proposes to limit hunting of these species. We apply the ideal of stewardship to this, such that, through licensing and hunt limits, the market can be sustained indefinitely. There will be a certain number of animals (the "take") that a hunter is allowed to bring in over a given period. Overhunting will result in license revocations. The Likatonian government will hereby fund a monitoring group under the oversight of the agricultural minister, this group will determine the number of animals that can be removed from a particular endangered species while still maintaining a gradual population growth intended to eventually remove the population levels from the danger zone. The number found by this monitoring group will be split evenly between the number of hunters applying to hunt that particular animal to determine sustainable times and amounts. Under no condition will companies register for a certain take. Instead, they shall have to register their employee hunters each individually. |

Message | I would rather support the total ban. However, this is better than what we have at present, so if the ban has no support, I will vote yes. |

Message | LPE: Thank you very much. I'll turn that around, too - a complete ban is better than permanently destroying the resource, as a ban can be lifted but a dead species is gone forever. If this has no support, I'll support the ban. |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
