Message | We are in favour of the alcohol decriminalization, but not the smoking one. There is no danger to other people's health from second-hand alcohol, but there certainly IS from second-hand smoke. We will be forced to abstain on this bill, unfortunately. |
Date | 00:26:40, September 28, 2006 CET | From | United Liberal Alliance | To | Debating the Prohibition Abolition Bill |
Message | We would possibly be prepared to make smoking illegal outdoors and therefore only legal in private homes and clubs where people have chosen to smoke and therefore not endangering others health |

Message | Opposed, although if the Royalists so desire, we will find ways to let this pass. |

Message | The thing is, by allowing smoking in homes, you endanger the one group of people who are both most at risk from second-hand smoke, and least able to get away from it if it exists in the home, namely children. No, we support legalization of alcohol, but the dangers of tobacco are simply too great, and not limited to that segment of the population that chooses of its own free will to indulge in the vice. We must still abstain. We're sorry. |
