Bill: UCA Energy Deregulation Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2291

Description[?]:

We believe that energy should be provided by private companies. Competition will improve service provisions and drive down prices provided that there is proper government oversight. The National Grid itself would remain under national control at present to ensure the even provision of energy, but energy generation and provision would be privatised

MessageAnd here as well. Competition in the power industry is one thing, total deregulation is another thing entirely. We have to vote in the negative.

MessageTRP: really-look: it says 'under regulation'. What is wrong with you two that when you hear the word 'privatise', you go screaming off into the wild red yonder?

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.

Random quote: “Their cheap talk of the 'greater good' is a thinly concealed excuse for subordinating the people to the institutionalized violence that is the state.” - Margaret Woodhall, former Dranian politician
