Bill: Ecology Reform Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2291

Description[?]:

This bill would reform Telamon's ecology laws to strike a more sensible balance between the need to preserve the environment and the need to work, not against industry and business to achieve this. We propose allowing some logging and commercial forestry so long as it is strictly regulated. We propose working with industry to bring about workable pollution standards which will protect the environment without putting unnecessary restrictions on industry which harms our competitiveness in the global economy. If we fail, industries will, as some already have done, relocate to other countries where there may not be any pollution restrictions (as this means fewer costs). Surely we should work with industry to keep them here and working within pollution restrictions than impose restrictive ones which see them moving abroad and emitting more pollution.

MessageIt isn't compromising the health of children. IT is keeping strong pollution restrictions whilst ensuring that they are ones that industry can effectively operate under. IT is allowing small scale logging whilst ensuring that forests are still protected and it is creating a more efficient and effective waste disposal system.
But as it isn't likely to pass, I'll put it to vote anyway!
