Bill: Reduction of Retirement Age
Details
Submitted by[?]: Green Workers Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2293
Description[?]:
We, members of the GWP, believe that the current retirement age of 65 forces our citizens to slave away for too long, and then gives them too little time to enjoy it. Thus, we wish to lower the retirement age to 55, with an option of voluntarily continuing past this to the compulsory retirement age of 65. We believe this will benefit both senior Lusitanians and the wider community, as we have a young, fast growing population that can both benefit from such increased job vacancies and has the tax revenue to support this. In addition, we believe that the creation of a public pension system, along with a voluntary superannuation system, is well overdue and necessary. This makes much sense in the long term, as it reduces the state's expense in rescuing destitute pensioners from poverty, who will invariably either not save enough or be abandoned by unscrupulous private pension "operators." Savings in health and housing will also benefit as a result. |

Message | The GWP hopes the other parties will vote this bill in, for the good of our senior folk. After decades of hard work and contribution to the common good, we strongly believe that Lusitania's senior citizens deserve some support, and an adequate safety net to recognise their sacrifices and hard work. |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
Random quote: "Erotic politicians, that's what we are. We're interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos and activity that appears to have no meaning." Jim Morrison |
