Description[?]:
"The are two simple proposals that the Social Liberal Party believes in strongly. Decentralisation, within the concept of Federalism, is an essential step for building a strong and democratic society. Returning power to local governments is indispensable. Not only do local politicians correspond to a greater representativeness, their constituency also possesses mechanisms for accountability that are much greater at the local level authorities, than they could ever be for a centralised government. In conclusion: The evolution of democratic government, decentralisation works." - Guy Verhofstadt. |

Message | This is completly crazy. This country is indivisible. Anyway, this measures would create unnecessary dissimilarities between regions whose are not benefictial not only to the people itself but also to the economy and museum policy. We are against this anti-patriotic proposal. |

Message | "The Social Liberal Party totally disagrees with the PP's assessment. The government party clearly has no concept of modern federalism and seems intent on clinging to old and failed forms of government, meanwhile it does not forget to use the same old cliches of old, such as charges of anti-patriotism." - Guy Verhofstadt. |

Message | This is a good starting step - however the GWP doesn't think it goes far enough. Rich, well-off local governments and councils will provide public transport to those who will use it least, while poorer areas (who are already stretched for funds) won't be able to afford any. In addition, the provision of infrastructure such as trains, trams and bus lanes requires a cross-government, sometimes trans-regional approach. You can't stop railway tracks at the end of a local government's border! The GWP is all for government funding of the arts, and think this strikes a careful balance between supporting our national artists, and avoiding excess waste of funds. |
