Bill: Great Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2294

Description[?]:

This act arises out of the consitutional debate that has been going on in the House of Commons. We propose the following changes in compromise to individual parties positions and we hope that it will be deemed satisfactory in order to reform the consitution of our great Commonwealth.

Also, if passed this act will not only pass the reforms contained herein, but will also bind all Telamon parties to abide by the legislative convention that if they win the Presidency they will always appoint and indeed are obliged to appoint a government which has a legislative majority.

MessageWe're going to stand against this; we'd really rather the title of the Chamber be the Parliament of the Commonwealth, or the Commonwealth Parliament. And the Cantons should stay named Cantons, we think. Other than that, we'll take this.

MessageWell, except for the Head of State provision. Remember, we hold that the head of state should be virtually powerless, so as to allow them to function as a symbol of the people rather than of a party.

MessageOur party is afraid of giving so much power to the hands of one person. We rather like president to be representatvie function

MessageAhh, remove the Province provision. Otherwise this is good, put it to a vote before eight months before the election.

And Royalist, please support this, please, as a gift for our endorsement of Melissa Calderon.

Please, please, please.

MessageOk, I'll remove the Province one and put it to a vote - I really hope it will pass!
I still don't like the term Canton and I will push for it to be changed!

MessageActually, after thinking about it that power thing should be stripped. Next term.

MessageWe don't like the term "Commonwealth Congress". We'd rather keep the old House of Commons name. We agree with all the other proposals, but we don't see what's wrong with the House of Commons as a name. We won't support this, but won't stand against it either. We abstain.

MessageNo, wait, we've changed our minds. It's stupid to not support a motion purely on aesthetic grounds, when we agree with the other proposals. But we just want it noted that we dislike the name Commonwealth Congress. We will, however, support the motion.

MessageI'll support for now; but I would like to see us come up with a different name.

Random fact: Players consent to the reasonable and predictable consequences of the role-play they consent to. For example, players who role-play their characters as committing criminal offences should expect those characters to experience the predictable judicial consequences of that.
