Bill: Religious changes
Details
Submitted by[?]: Hobrazian Peoples Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2294
Description[?]:
We believe that the choice of religion should be without economic influence and therefore we suggest that ministers of religion will come under the general workers law, where a minimum salary is decided by the parliament. Furthermore we would like to set a maximum salary, because we think that religious is spiritual, not materialistic. Thereby we encourage wealthy religions to spend money on charity etc. |

Old value:: The state does not intervene in the remuneration of ministers of religion.

Proposed: The salaries and pensions of ministers of religions shall be regulated by the law, but shall be borne by the religious communities themselves.

Message | I agree - why not regulate this. It makes sense to have some oversight - as a socialist I strive for equality and that means that in an area like this - where some people believe there very salvation depends on doing the bidding of the church - we cannot let Hobrazians be manipulated. |

Message | As religion is a business, surely it is those people within that business that should control the amount that those people employed by said religion are paid? This merely increases bureaucracy and, in doing so, increases the costs to all our people rather than just those few who choose to pay money to said religions. |
