Bill: Clean Environment Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Green Workers Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2297
Description[?]:
All around, we see our once-pristine land being ravaged by unscrupulous developers, avaracious loggers, and polluting industries! We must stop this ecological suicide at once by introducing a comprehensive plan to protect our Lusitanian environment. Article 1: Unless we protect our fish stocks now, we will risk a vital food source in the future. Article 2: Playing God with food genes is both dangerous and risky - and we have no idea what such Franken-foods will do to the Lusitanian people if we introduce it into our food system. We say keep it all out until we have assessed all its potential risks. That's not too much to ask - we road-test cars before they're released so they don't have faults that kill people. This is even more important for food - as we all eat, and the dangers are unknown and quite probable. Article 3: Pollution should be kept down, and actively reduced by strict adherance to the Kyoto Protocol. Lusitania must reduce our industrial pollution not only for our immediate health, but for our position as a responsible world member. Article 4: Tree replanting should be a no-brainer. If logging companies, or developers profit from removing trees, then they should be required to repay their advantage by replacing them. This is not a responsibility for environmental groups or the state - this is a business responsibility. |

Message | "We agree with Article 1. On article 4 we disagree with the suggested proposal and would prefer: - "The government encourages, but does not require new and replacement plantation." On article 2 and 3 the social liberal Party is strongly in favour of the status quo and will vote against the bill, if change to either law is included in the bill." - David Suzuki. |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
