Bill: Reinforcing the right to peaceful protest

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Liberal Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2075

Description[?]:

Unfortunately, as revealed in a recent opinion poll:

an extremely sizable minority of our population (46%) believe that the police should have the power to disperse any group, even if they pose no threat to the safety of the wider public. The SDLP calls on all parties to send a clear message to our people, that we will continue to stand by existing legislation that ensures police may only disperse a group if public safety is at risk.

The status quo is that potential antisocial behaviour is kept under control without infringing upon any democratic right to peaceful protest. We feel ardently that this should be maintained.

MessageThe We Say So! Party's position on this bill is clear cut. We will support however, we reserve the right to implement any and all laws should this Country be involved in any form of armed conflict or revolution to guarentee the safety of the majority.
