Message | May I ask why the need for government involvement with copyright and source code? I honestly never understood this and would like to hear reasons for this. This can be either IC or OOC as I have always wondered this in both particracy as well as real life. My thoughts have always been that open source can fill the void left when closed source companies begin to shift away from the needs of the customer and more towards profits... then grassroots, amateur programmers have that good vs. evil drive to produce something that the people truly are asking for (firefox vs internet explorer is an ideal example). To allow government to allow only closed source obviously is all for corporate slime... however to allow only open source removes technology from the economy which will limit progress as well as send those same play at home programmers off to challenge themselves in other arenas. But perhaps I am missing something. |

Random fact: Particracy isn't just a game, it also has a forum, where players meet up to discuss role-playing, talk about in-game stuff, run their own newspaper or organisation and even discuss non-game and real-life issues! Check it out: http://forum.particracy.net/ |
