Bill: Unity Cabinet of 2307

Details

Submitted by[?]: Catholic Workers Union

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2308

Description[?]:

A solemn pledge to resist coalition offers from Nuncirists and their sympathizers.

Although we have in the past opposed unity governments, we feel that the absolutely crucial objective of opposing the Nuncirist global movement requires us to join together.

MessageNo, it's because you're traditionally an authoritarian-style party and we don't want those in the cabinet. We only want parties commited to democracy. If you'd renounce the Nuncirists, maybe we'd be more interested in a left-wing coalition.

MessageYou appear to have changed your tune IADP! Whilst obviously a unity cabinet is not something we can enter into lightly, we feel that we can probably accept this, particularly as you have given us the post of foreign affairs, (OOC: thanks!!) which will allow the President to take an active role in foreign affairs and to seek to counter the worldwide threat which we face from Nuncirists.

MessageBecause you supported a proposal to exclude the rest of us and ally with the Nuncirists. If you're interested in joining a left-wing coalition in the future, we might be interested. Of course you'd be sending a clear signal of your support for our cause if you joined the Macon Progressive Coalition...

Anyway, this will go forward so that we can have a majority government. This government can stand, I think. And yes, I've changed my tune on Unity Governments because of the rise of anti-democratic support within the Commonwealth. I look forward to working with you, UCA.

MessageIt will certainly be interesting working with you, particularly as you seem to regard the new President as a 'lame duck'!!

MessageThat's fine, we've done the same. Ours is just more likely to pass.

We've offered you a path to join our moderate left alliance. If you took that path (we might even accept the Communists if they renounce authoritarianism), we could easily join in a cabinet coalition with you. Keep that in mind, because the offer stands.
