Message | This will hurt our industrial production, making goods more expensive, and will lead to either wage reductions, or lay offs. |
Date | 18:01:29, November 01, 2006 CET | From | Noordelijk Bevrijding Front | To | Debating the Environemntal Protection Act |
Message | No it will not. It will simply give incentives to move toward greener energy. Observe: The Government tells Industry that if they convert to low carbon renewable energy sources Corperation Tax will be reduced from 5% to 1%. Company A follows government guideline to maximise profit which will no doubt be supported by shareholders AND the consumer because they can cut costs too. Company B decides that this is not worth implementing. As Company A does implement it Company B loses custom as it cannot compete with A. Does Company B lay off workers to compensate? NO, Company B moves to maximise profit in the most sensible way: It switches to Green Energy. |

Message | Well thats all very well, but I don't see the carrot here, where is the Corporation Tax reduction? Its certainly not visible here, and your story is just that, a story. |

Message | Aye, but even then, companies will still be paying the standard rate of corporation tax, and will have to submit to these laws, and the senario you suggest cannot happen. |
