Bill: Adoption Policy Act of 2075
Details
Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2076
Description[?]:
No one person in Likatonia shall ever be discriminated against when wanting to adopt. The only ones who shall ever be denied are those with a criminal record/background. Sexual orietation is no grounds on which to deny a person the right to adopt a child. Nor is it a means of gaging their competance as a guardian. If a person can give a child a loving home and has no criminal history, the government has no right to deny that person the chance to make a postive impact on the life of a child who has either been abandoned by his/her parents, orphaned or put up for adoption by the mother's choice. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning who can proceed with adoption; in case adoption is legal.
Old value:: Only heterosexual couples and singles may adopt children.
Current: Everyone may adopt children.
Proposed: Everyone may adopt children.

Message | I have included a clause in the main description to ensure that those who aren't a threat are allowed. My reasoning is that sexual orietation doesn't automatically make someone a good or bad parent. There are plenty of heterosexual people who aren't fit to be parents and of course, those who are. |

Message | Article 1 is included in my proposal as well. Article 2 is different so if we could split this proposal, that would be more easy then to debate twice about the same thing. |

Message | This is similar to a bill already at debate. I would prefer a state run adoption system, but this is better than none. I support everybody being able to adopt, but I think that couples should be given priority - it is much healthier for children to have two parents, however good they are. In the event, however, of no couple wanting to adopt a child, it is better for the child to be adopted by a single person than to have to continue life in an orphanage. |

Message | SG - I'll remove the first clause, and maybe I'll keep the second. |

Message | It's a hard choice. Have a potential shortage of adoptive parents, or place children with people with at least one serious moral flaw. I will support this bill if you change the wording to strike the second paragraph and add a sentence addressing the severely handicapped. It's dangerous for both the child and guardian for a serverely mentally or physically handicapped person to adopt a child. |

Message | I have a vision problem, so that makes me physically disabled... so unless you elaborate on that, thereis a serious flaw in your logic because physically handicap can mean any degree of physical handicap. |
