Bill: SLP Income tax proposal of April 2310

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2310

Description[?]:

A drastic change in the economic system is absolutely necessary to reverse Lusitania's economic downfall. A new tax structure is needed to end and reverse the recession. If any of the other parties are familiar with economic principles, we will be implementing the Multiplier effect. There are many sources where you can grasp the basic concepts of this principle on the internet, however here is a simple diagram I've found on wikipedia.

Lusitania WILL NOT reverse it's current recession without this proposed change that increases government revenue and spending in crucial areas. Make no mistake. The Libertarian policies of the Conservative Party's majority governments have failed our nation. The numbers do not lie. The Social Liberal Party has a proud economic record of growth to look back upon. We ask this house to vote favourably on this tax proposal and to trust us.

MessageThe PN don't believe in direct taxation as it smothers work and entrepreneurship.

We will abstain from this vote, so that the bill will pass and we don't change our beliefs.

MessageThe vote will not pass if you abstain. Unlike other bills that require only more yes votes and no votes, a change in taxation policy "requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes."

MessageThe problem with our economy is that those who are less off have absolutely no support in breaking the cycle of poverty. They are excluded from the system and this is an immense drain on our economy. Nobody likes taxation but the money will be put back into public services that are really the only way to get this economy moving again.

MessageNow who is the demagogue?

Under your backwards economic system less people have kind of salary to begin with. Thanks to the recession, the economy has been creating less and less wealth. Those who are exempt from taxes are still unable to pay for services, job training, transportation, mortgage payment loans, pre-school education, health care, saving for their retirement, university, etc.

Under our economic the progressive tax system will be put more money into services to make sure these people have a fair chance at the economy and the job market. There will be less people on low-salaries because they have a chance to succeed. Taxes collected from the rich will pay services for those who can't afford them. Getting everyone involved in the economy will create growth and reverse the recession. These are the basic principles of any viable economic model in any developed country on earth.

You accuse my party of going mad? The SLP is not the party trying to keep our nation in the recession you created, nor is our party violating human rights. No we are not mad. We just happen to understand uber-basic economic principles.

MessageBecause of the National Party's failure to live up to its responsibility as part of the coalition government, we are now calling for an early election.
