Bill: Aid Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Telamon National Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2312
Description[?]:
We believe that if we can open up trading relations with countries in need that will allow them to get a source of income that goes to the people and not to the governments. If we buy the produce from the people who produce it and when we get that also supply aid that will then make sure that money goes to the right people. We also get to get goods which are in demand in Telamon, so everyone is a winner apart from the greedy governments that make their people be poor. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards giving aid to foreign countries.
Old value:: The government gives high levels of aid to countries in need.
Current: The government gives moderate aid to countries in need.
Proposed: The government supplies "tied" aid to poorer nations in return for trading rights.

Message | No. Although the proposal the way the TNP presents it is honourable and fair, the risks of tying the economic development of a developing nation to the politico-economic will of Telamon puts the citizens of the recieving nation at risk should a government less likely to preserve human rights come to power here. We support the idea, but it's ultimately too risky. |

Message | What is the likely hood of that, TNP do not want to remove human Rights. TNP want to look after our ouw country but we will not hurt anyone else and support that everyone has human rights. |

Message | And we agree. But if this door is open, there's nothing to prevent a government without scruples from walking through it at a later date. |

Message | If an government wanted to do it and they had enough influence to do so then they would do it anyway. Whereas for now this is the best option. |

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators. |
