MessageThe Blue Party feels that as Genetic Engineering and Genetic Modification are relatively unknown technologies that still need extensive research yet, that public consumption of products with GM/GE content should be restricted until empirical proof of GE material has no negative or harmful effects.

MessageYes but you that, where do you stop, anything of the like that we already use always has the chance to have negative/harmful effects.

MessageHowever, science and research has provided better illustrations of what our foods can do to us but given the very low amount of GM/GE material research done and given that our understanding of science hasn't yet helped us to understand the possible effects to it's consumption, it is too much of a risk to our future generations to experiment with the entirety of our population.

Voting against this bill and against the banning of public consumption of GM-content products could have untold, tragic repercussions for the the future of the people of the Republic and further beyond our borders.

It would be idiotic to allow a relatively unresearched science loose on society.

MessageGenetically modified products are clearly labelled. It is up to our nation's citizens to decide whether they want to consume GM produce or not.

MessageWe believe that there is not enough education to make an informed choice, therefore we must not make these products available until there is enough research to make proper choices.

MessageOh, so the problem is that the Blue Party thinks the average Gaduri citizen is an idiot, not fit to choose the food they eat. While we're at it, let's ban greasy burgers from fast food restaurants. We'll ban alcohol and cigarettes as well. Those have health risks.

GM produce has been consumed in our nation for many years, and researched for even longer. So far, research has shown that GM produce is certainly no worse than the products I have mentioned above.

MessageIt is the 24th century. Genetically modified products and associated research etc. has existed for a couple hundred years or so.

In the dozen generations or so since the beginning of GM products, we have not observed any mutations or adverse side effects in our populace.

MessageI address the Totalitarian Party when I say this, that the true problem is that there are idiots so named as yourselves in the Senate who seem to think that tinkering around with very structure of living nature will (addressing the National Fascisti) be completely understood now over 400 years after it's research started. This is genetics, DNA, that we're discussing here. If any of the members sitting had a basic understanding of biology, they'd know that there are thousands upon thousands of variations and effects from changing them.

No, the problem is not idiotic consumers or nationals, it is the idiotic delegates of the provinces that oppose this bill.

MessageAnd, to further address further address the Totalitarians ignorance on this topic, we understand the effects of unhealthy foods consumed in excess. The public are well informed of these through social concern in magazines, reports, studies, documentaries etc. We live in a world very aware of diets and their effects.

However, in this day and age we still don't understand the very basic tenets of our existence. Yet the delegates of this Senate proscribe the public consumption of genetically modified materials that have altered the very structure of our existence.

You think our nation's scientists cannot decide whether or not GM produce is harmful to humans? After centuries of research? You don't think they can take some genetically-modified food, feed it to a family of mice, monkeys or whatever over a period of fifty years, and jot down their observations? And you think I'm the idiot?
