Discrimination in hiring practices hurts both minrities and those who aren't part of a minority. True equality in hiring practices comes from permitting no forms of discrimination or "affirmative action". If there is no policy, some companies will discriminate against people for being in a minority, and likewise, vice versa. Discrimination based on the level of qualifications is permitted competancy dictates how able a person will be able to do a job. In the case of physically demanding jobs (firefighter, military, etc), physical discrimination against those who are physically disabled, and unable to fulfill the job, is be permitted on legitament grounds. |

Message | Of course. As long as that doesn't count positive discrimination towards people who have better qualifications - which is sort of obvious, but needs to be stated. Qualifications and availablility should be the only discriminators. |
