Bill: Motto: change it or correct it?

Details

Submitted by[?]: Adam Smith Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2080

Description[?]:

We currently have a motto that is supposed to mean: "I have a catapult. Give me all the money, or I will fling an enormous rock at your head" However it does not. There is an error in the Latin. Dabris should be dabis, dabris has no meaning whatsoever.

So we should at least correct this motto. However if we are to change the motto we should consider overhauling it completely. We, as a party, are not too enamoured of the impolication that our nation is one of armed robbers.

If we wish to stay with latin then perhaps:
Quot homines tot sententiae: suo' quoique mos
which means "There are as many opinions as there are people: each has his own correct way".

Or if we prefer a touch of humour:
No matter how thin you slice it, it's still baloney.

We ask for other suggestions.

MessageHow about "A Nation Is But A Collection Of Citzens"? And as for latin, I never toutch the stuff, you'll have to translate on your own.

MessageOK. So let us use Mandarin Chinese, No actually. I too prefer English. So suggestions.

The MLT Party suggestion would actually be fine with me, so I will change the proposal to that for now.

MessageThe MLTP's suggestion reeks of the agenda of the Left to turn Lodamun into a vile commune of socialist quagmires.

Also, I hate baloney.

MessageOn first reading the MLTP's suggestion, that was our impression, but then thinking about it, it is in complete opposition to the communist principles of the society being more important than the individual. What it says is that the society is no more than the individuals which is a libertarian position that we are quite happy with.

MessageI actually like it...
While I love the latin language...I think the new motto is a good way to state one of TiC's core beliefs, that no group of citizens may do anything that would be immoral(asf far as infringing upon other's rights) for an individual citizen to do.

I believe that I will vote for...

MessageActually, i believe the CCF-Greens will dissent. A nation also includes its communities, its immigrants and refugees who do not hold citizenship, its animal populations, its earth and water and air.

We far prefer the baloney suggestion. Alternatively, we advance our usual suggestions: "Flock together," or if Latin is preferred, "Patria Tuum Est" (the country is yours).

Message@ CCF We refuse to be considered seagulls or very bad 1970s wallpaper 0and the country is not ours, it belongs to the people.

@ AC: If we are to leave it as it is, can't we at least correct the latin?

So if we go for laughs, how about: "If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly"

MessageAs usual the Equi-trista party does not express an opinion, and just votes against something with no explanation as to why. This was in debate for more than six years without a single comment from them. Would they care now to indicate why they wish to retain a misspelled elitist motto that promotes highway robbery?
