Bill: Proportional Representation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Leviathan Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2323
Description[?]:
The vote of a citizen of Washibar is equal to that of a citizen of Itaki. Why is it, then, that Washibar sends as many delegates as Itaki, even though it is barely half Itaki's side? Are the votes of the people of Washibar worth twice a much as the votes of the people of Itaki? This bill will base representation in the Jawatankuasa on the population of the wilayah. |

Message | While we support the idea of this change we feel that the rapid changes in government which we have been undergoing can unstablize our government if care is not taken. We suggest a slow and steady change with this issue being reconsidered once our new cabinet is in place. We fear that should these changes could result in tyranny over the smaller as their voice is drowned out by the large urbanized Wilayahs. We must first ensure the protection of rights of the minority before granting more power to the larger. |
