The current system leaves a large gap for the middle income families who can neither afford heavty private health bills but who are not classed as being of a "low income". Health is a right and not a privilidge. To suggest otherwise is patently absurd. |

Old value:: The government subsidises the cost of pharmaceutical drugs for people on low incomes.
Current: The government pays partially for all citizens' pharmaceutical drugs, and pays entirely for those of low income citizens.

Message | Low income is a specific band. Some people who are classed as "low income" can afford to pay for the simple treatment, while some people who are not classed as low income cannot afford the more complicated treatment. What's more, how fair is it that a person on a moderate income has to shell out hundreds of thousands on treatment, while a person who is on low income gets it for free? People do not choose to get sick, health treatment is not a luxury! |
