Message | This article appeared in an omnibus that seems to be favored only by the MDP. The recent news poll shows that only 6% favor the current law that bans private cars. Clearly the other parties are out of step with the national mood on this position, and hopefully will reconsider their opposition to allowing private cars. -- An opinion poll was held among the citizens of the The Most Serene Commonwealth of Malivia. The subject of the opinion poll was The government's policy concerning private cars. When asked what their opinions were, the following choices were made: 25.47% There are no regulations on the ownership of private cars. 36.76% Private cars are allowed, but people are encouraged to travel collective and tax incentives are provided for cars using environmentally friendly fuels. 15.75% Only one car allowed per household, people are encouraged to travel collective and tax incentives on cars using environmentally friendly fuels. 15.30% Only cars using environmentally friendly fuels are allowed. 6.72% Private cars are not allowed. |

Message | Public sentiment and convenience do not trump the great benefit Malivia derives from banning private cars. In countries that allow cars, half of all urban space is used for roads and parking lots; by banning cars we have freed up great tracts of public space in our cities, and eliminated almost all pollution created inside cities. We do not support this measure. |

Message | 95% of Malivians want some form of private auto ownership, and we have parties here who think they know better than what an overwhelming majority of Malivians want. Somewhere along the line..people forgot what 'representing your constituents' means. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
