Bill: End Government ID Cards
Details
Submitted by[?]: Leviathan Party
Status[?]: defeated

Voting deadline: January 2328
Description[?]:
As part of Malivia's commitment to open society, we propose ending the practice of government issued identification. Drivers licenses are more than sufficient for this taks, and doing away with the ID card provides greater freedom for our citizens to act and live anonymously. |

Message | What a bizarre description. The LP prefers a 'carless' society, yet assumes most people are carrying out drivers licences. Oppose, because identity cards can contain medical information that would be necessary if the individual is severly injured. |

Message | Medical id's can be carried by those who have special needs. The majority of the population would require no special instructions for medical care. Though we agree with the MDP that driver's licenses are not going to be a popular option, we do not see the need for a state sponsored ID. |

Message | Our point was this: if you don't have a car, what need does the state have to ask for your identification? Thus, if you are not driving you should not be issued an ID unless you specifically ask for one. |
