Voting deadline: March 2333
Description[?]:
Whereas, The immigration quotas currently in effect mean nothing if absolutely anyone can classify him or herself as a refugee, but Whereas, we do not want the government conducting unreasonable searches for suspected illegal immigrants, We hereby propose to only accept people under "refugee" status if the circumstances from which they are fleeing are truly extreme. However, at the same time we propose that the government may not actively search houses just on the basis that iit believes that illegal immigrants may be present. |

Message | We feel that whilst the PLPL makes a very compelling argument, and that Article 1 is something we back 100%, weare concerned about Article 2. A refugee is someone who is fleeing from desperate circumstance already, and whilst we would happily see a body set up to oversee and regulate whether or not a person qualified, we view extreme circumstance as life or death, and we are concerned that this is often too late for many refugees. |

Message | We worry that without Article 2, absolutely anyone could claim refugee status. The option in current law is "regardless of the reason." This allows the government to decide what reasons are acceptable and which are not. |
