Details
Submitted by[?]: Likaton Coalition of the Willing
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2334
Description[?]:
Think. With regards to Alcohol and Tobacco, Personal Responsibility should be applied (and in the case of minors, by parents). The duration that the public has to wait before revieing electoral choices should be shortened. The Head of State should not carry political weight, as that is the role of the Convocation. No-one should be forced into Government Labour. And we certainly shouldn't fleece Corporations through overly heavy taxes, as it is causing the economy to weaken as companies move to our neighbours. |

Message | We oppose much in this amendment. We will not support allowing greedy corporations to keep more than the current 80 per cent of their profits. a 20 per cent tax on corporations is hardly burdensome. We will not support a monarchy; we could be convinced possibly to support the elected Head of State automatically being Head of Government., which has a similar effect. However, we will not support the introduction of monarchy. Symbolic or not, it goes against the concept of equality, and paying a royal family to do nothing is an unnecessary and non-useful expense. We will not support removing the right to draft even in wartime, although we might support a proposal allowing it only in wartime. We would support lessening the terns to 36 months, however, as well as allowing minors to consume alcohol. We would also support the change to the motto. We are strongly enough against the tobacco industry that we would be reluctant to allow minors to purchase tobacco, although with the inconsistencies between that and allowing minors to consume alcohol, we might end up supporting it. On the whole, though, we must oppose this measure. |

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
