Bill: Religious Reform
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2336
Description[?]:
"Whilst we agree that Judaism is the true faith of Beiteynu and should remain in the place of state religion it seems foolish to force non Jews into synagogues. It is damaging to religious services to force non Jews to be a part of them and so we propose altering our state law so that membership of the Jewish faith is voluntarily. With the passage of the laws allowing us to now tax non-Jewish religious authorities and prevent them from setting up schools we feel we can effectively keep a watch on the heathens without souring our services with them. Furthermore at the same time we propose maintaining the law on mandatory religious clothing and encourage the police to keep watch over all people dressed as Christians (Blue), Muslims (Green) or Pagans (To include all religions that are not "People of the Book") (Black)." -- Daniel Shkolnik |

Message | We are not forcing anyone into our synagogues. We recognize that there are many kinds of Jews -- Hasidim, Orthodox, Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative -- and Habonim Dror recognizes the validity of all Jewish faiths. There are some Jews who do not go to synagogue at all. Furthermore, we are concerned about the other measures proposed in this bill. The mandatory clothing colors are disturbingly reminiscent of the oppression of the Jews in Deltaria not so long ago. We will not be willing to take the first step towards genocide. |

Message | "All Jewish sects are recognised under the state religion, we do not discriminate amongst our own kind. However we are currently forcing all people be they Jewish, Muslim, Christian or Progressive Darwinist to join the Jewish faith and therfore forcing them into our synagogues. This proposal makes sense on both religious and humans rights grounds. As for the mandatory religious clothing we agree that if in the wrong hands this could be a tool for genocide but currently it is a "necessary evil" until our nation is secure. It is no secret that it is non-Jews that want to see the destruction of Beiteynu and the continuation of the Pontesi occupation and so it is important to moniter them. Once we reclaim what is ours we propose altering the law to remove mandatory religious clothing but for now it must remain." -- Daniel Shkolnik |
