Details
Submitted by[?]: National Beluzian Bolshevik Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2338
Description[?]:
Nuclear power is one of the most safe, one of the most efficient, and one of the most economic energy sources we have. Wind nor solar can generate the power needed for a growing economy, and isn't appropriate for all situations. There is absolutely no reason not to allow nuclear energy in our country. It will strengthen our economy with more power and more jobs and can do no harm to the environment. |

Article 1

Message | Nuclear power can do no harm to the environment? I do hope the NBBP is speaking in jest. Have they so soon forgotten about nuclear waste? Waste that I remind my honorable friend has a life of 10,000 years before it is no longer radioactive. Moreover, fossil fuels or other forms of fuel must be used to generate electricity also to produce and distribute the electricity require energy to build and subsequently decommission. Mineral ores must be collected and processed to produce nuclear fuel. Thus producing waste into the atmosphere aiding in global warming/the green house effect. Finally, water must be used to cool the reactors and regulate their temperature. Rivers are the most common source of cooling water, as well as the destination for waste heat. The temperature of exhaust water must be regulated to avoid killing fish; long-term impact of hotter-than-natural water on ecosystems is an environmental concern. Thus both I and my Party fail to see how our honourable friends of the National Beluzian Bolshevik Party can declare that the usage of nuclear power fails to do harm to the environment. |

Message | Nuclear waste can be stored as long as necessary, and can often be recycled into new nuclear fuel or nuclear weapons. I\'m sure it also has other military applications as well. And your water problem is easily regulated, only a problem for careless design structures. \r\n\r\nFinally, mineral ores may from nuclear processing do not contribute to green-house gases. |
