MessageOOC: Soz everyone, RL has been so busy.

BIC: On it’s face, this proposal would seem valid. However, several things are of conern to us. Firstly, there is the issue of there being no discretion for the minister responsible, or suitable delegate or body to grant refugee status in extraordinary circumstances. The danger that is posed is that people who are not victims of extreme circumstnaces but could still make a claim that the public would accept have no recourse. There needs to not be only an application of rules and criteria, but also a place for human intervention and the possibility of discretion.

Secondly, as a member of the cabinet, we owe a responsibiltiy to it (as well as naturally to the people of Baltusia). As a result, we note that the party in charge of foreign affairs has chosen to vote against. At this time, the FFP does not consider this issue to be one of such major importance as to cross the floor. In the future perhaps, but not now.

For these two reasons, we have relutently decided to vote against this bill (this time).
