Whereas, We believe that there is no need for national forest protection, as has been proposed, beyond the current law that requires tree replantation at replacement level, but Whereas, We do wish to defer to localities that might wish to protect their forests, foregoing the economic benefits of unrestricted logging for aesthetic benefits, We propose to allow local governments to protect their forests to the extent they so choose. |
