Whereas, People who take mass transit are either using it because they cannot afford cars or because of a choice, one which lessens traffic congestion as well as pollution, and Whereas, It is also desirable for those without cars to be able to make it to work, We propose to subsidize mass transit. However, We also propose to allow private rail companies, currently banned, to exist, seeing no need for a government monopoly on rail travel and believing competition would drive costs to passengers down. |
