Bill: Privatisation of Housing Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Catholic Justicial Party - Solidarity

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2342

Description[?]:

It is time to bypass local governments and allow all citizens to be able to buy their homes. A certain low rate of aid should be offered to those starting out with families so that they can purchase their homes more rapidly than usual. Private property should be as widely available as possible so as to avoid government or corporations controlling all aspects of life.

MessageWe are sympathetic to the intention behind this Bill, but believe different areas of the country have different needs, and local government is best placed to craft local housing policies.

MessageWe must also oppose this bill because of the discrimination it contains against households not classified as "low income" (often hard working families, saddled with debt and struggling to pay the bills and childcare).

MessageI am disheartened by the voting so far. Please consider the value of allowing all to own their own houses. One's home should be their castle.

MessageWe have reconsidered our position and voted accordingly. At least this way local governments can't discriminate against hard working families in worse ways (and there are plenty of worse ways).
