Bill: Budget proposal of February 2342

Details

Submitted by[?]: Likaton Coalition of the Willing

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2342

Description[?]:

The Likaton Independent Thought Party propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Free Republic of Likatonia.

We propose slashing the massive inflation and inefficiency that has plagued government departments since the tax cuts (http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=95101) and spending hikes(http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=93825) proposed by our previous Finance Minister.

The Average citizen earns around 20,000LIK, and even captains of industry only see salaries in the low 40,000 range.

In conjunction with our new, lower taxatin policy (http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=96976), we hope to bring an end to the socialist vote-grabbing policies of our predecessors.

MessageWe cannot support this proposal, despite our understanding that the tax cuts that we have just assured passage of withm our votes will require major spending cuts; due to the fact that the cuts in internal affairs and justice are so huge that we will not be able to deter crime.

We would actually be willing to see 2 billion in further cuts in the "left" areas we tend to support, health and social services as well as education and culture, with those two billion added, 1 billion each, to internal affairs and justice (the police and court/penal system). If the LITP proposes a budget that will do that, or otherwise gives reasonable funding to those two departments without massive slashes elsewhere, we will vote yes in recognition that the LITP's proposed budget would then be the best we would be likely to see.

MessageIf the PLPL would support this budget, we would happily open a dialogue for modification in the immediate future. As it is, we need to close the deficit hole that our good friends in the AMRLP pointed out had been created by previous governments.

MessageWhile we would point out that the previous deficit hole was not there until the corporate tax was repealed, we will vote for this budget with such a dialogue open as to funding for police and justice.
