MessageSo, let's follow this through. Your basic premise in regards food labelling is: "Don't tell them what's in it, they might not want to eat it". People should be given the full information regarding their diets and be able to make decisions on their health accordingly.
Food safety is: "Let's not make food safety a government concern. Let's let industry put whatever they want into it and hope that local government actually gives a damn about the local population."
Health care is: "Let's only allow those with large amounts of extra income be able to afford life saving drugs and operations."
Health and safety: "Let's not have a unified national law on health and safety. Instead we'll let local government continually reduce the level of safety in order to attract business to their constituencies and in so doing allow the NEPM to state that they had no control over the reduction in safety levels because the decisions were made locally."

Would that be a correct assessment?
Also, as mentioned previously, leave bills in debate for a time don't just think them up and send them straight to vote, it takes away from the interesting part of the game.
