Message | Why, you ask? 1. POWs will be more compliant if they know they're going to go home instead of being treated like common criminals. 2. Foreign soldiers are no more guilty of a crime than our military men and women and, quite frankly, we'd rather have our side returned than locked up overseas. 3. It makes us look better not only in the eyes of the rest of the world but also in the eyes of the enemy's public. 4. It costs some 30 000 aureus to maintain a POW in decent coniditions per year. Instead of the 1.5 billion aureus it would take to maintain just 50 000 POWs (OOC: The Soviet Union had 5 million during WW2, its only possible to maintain large numbers if you treat them poorly), we could easily send them home for about a hundredth of that. 5. Even if the government decides to return the POWs to the field of battle, they must expend some resources to do so. Instead of the situation where we use up all our resources taking care of their soldiers (perhaps only to have them escape with good morale and full bellies) and the enemy uses nothing, both sides use the same resources in dealing with the POWs. 6. Having a large number of resentful, trained and deadly people within our national borders is a bad idea. Particularly if they decide to escape. |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
